Course Objectives

The EFR Primary Care (CPR) and Secondary Care (First Aid) courses teach people how to provide emergency care for someone in need. The courses are designed to:

Help participants remember appropriate emergency care procedures during times of need, and; encourage them to apply those procedures by assisting those needing emergency care.

EFR Primary and Secondary Care courses are based on internationally recognized medical guidelines for emergency care.

Care for Children Instructor Programme

Course Objectives

The Emergency First Response Care for Children Instructor Programme provides individuals with the additional training necessary to teach the Emergency First Responders infant and child patient care skills. The course builds on the instructor candidate's emergency care background and focuses on developing the necessary skills for infant and child care. Through independent study, classroom sessions and practice teaching assignments, instructor candidates learn to conduct the Emergency First Response Care for Children course. This Course is performance-based and may be completed in one day.

Prerequisites

EFR Instructors or individuals who are current paediatric CPR/first aid instructors with another qualifying organisation may choose to earn the EFR Care for Children instructor credential by one of three methods.

Complete a training session with an EFR Instructor Trainer.

Complete and EFR Care for Children Course (layperson level) and submit a completed Care for Children Instructor Self-Study Knowledge Review with the application.

Document certification as a current instructor with another regionally recognised organisation and have authorisation to teach a paediatric emergency care course. Also, submit a completed Care for Children Instructor Self-Study Knowledge Review with the application.

IF THE EFR INSTRUCTOR & CARE FOR CHILDREN INSTRUCTOR PROGRAMMES ARE TAKEN TOGETHER, THE TOTAL COURSE FEE IS $595. THIS INCLUDES A COPY OF THE CARE FOR CHILDREN STUDENT MANUAL AND THE CARE FOR CHILDREN DVD. THE FEE DOES NOT HOWEVER, INCLUDE THE PADI APPLICATION FEE.
