IDC
Course framework for the IDC programme
The PADI Instructor Training process has two phases of certification with the option of some theoretical knowledge capable of being performed on-line. This may effectively reduce the face-to-face learning section of the entire IDC to only five (5) days:
- The first phase is the PADI Assistant Instructor (AI) course. This provides candidates with the training in how to teach successfully in the classroom, confined water and open water environment.
- The second phase of the training programme is the Open Water Scuba Instructor Program (OWSI). This gives a full background of the PADI system of diver education and further opportunities for instructional development.
- To perform the on-line section of the IDC, get on to the PADI website at www.padi.com and follow the relevant instructions. There is a cost for this payable directly to PADI. For those who select this option, your IDC will then begin with us on Day Three (3) of our regularly scheduled IDC.
During your time with us you will be expected to perform limited teaching assignments and we take time to ensure that each candidate is comfortable and performing to well above acceptable levels before attendance at an Instructor Examination (IE).
Credit will be given if you already hold a PADI Assistant Instructor qualification.
